The longest week of the year!

This time next week I will be in Wyoming for my antelope and mule deer hunt if the good Lord allows. I am in what I call crunch time. It has to be the longest wait of the year. I have had everything ready for three weeks. Just waiting to load it all up and hit the road.
This trip has a new twist to it. I had major eye problems back on July the 25th. I woke up blind in my left eye. After several trips to the eye specialist and surgery I have got most of my vision back in my left eye. This is a big blessing. The other thing is the worry of getting Covid. It is pretty scary as numbers are high in the area. I not only worry about myself, but my wife and son that is still at home. It could mean a canceled trip at any point.
Any others feeling the stress of an up coming hunt this year?

I think that the word stress and the year 2020 just go together, for some reason if it can go wrong this year it has.

As for covid, just practice social distancing, wear your mask as a hopeful deterrent and go enjoy the hunt. I have found that when you start worrying about things the more stress you feel and the less that you enjoy your time out in the hills.

As for your hunt, enjoy it there is enough stress having two different tags and perhaps having to hunt two different areas even if they are in the same unit.

I always enjoy going to a new area and getting to know it a little either during the hunt or before. That is one way that I have gotten to know Utah so well. We pick a unit that we haven't been to and then go enjoy it, learning what it has and where we need to go. We also most of the time have a shotgun and fishing poles with us as we travel. One year I fished 6 or 7 different ponds as we scouted around. At each pond we stopped and I would throw out my line and catch a fish. We then marked that pond down on a map as one that had fish and then moved on. A shotgun is nice just encase you happen upon a cottontail or bird that is legal to shoot, granted you then need your small game license but they sure are tasty if you find a few. A few years ago two of us keep another person busy cleaning and prepping rabbits. That made for a great dinner a couple of nights later.

As you say, putting the tag on a animal is secondary to the enjoyment that you have just being out in the wilds and seeing new country.

Yell Co we have weather pattern change coming next week, should help the hunting except the precip may make roads iffy. Going to be cooler with chances of precip every few days they are saying.

Our covid numbers are mainly due to the university and colleges in the state. UW has done 16,000 tests, going to be a lots of positives and false positives. Generally folks wear their masks out and about in stores, restaurants and bars not - only servers.

Good luck to you, travel safe !

Wy-Tex Good to hear mask are being worn. I am so conditioned to people wearing mask out in public that I find my self not looking at people's faces any more. Hard to tell if you know them if you can not see their face. We plan to stay out of business unless it is a have to case. Will miss seeing some of the locals and talking to them. I like to try and catch a 6 man football game if possible. Kayce plays Midwest wonder if I would be welcome to sit in the vehicle and watch the game.

You will be more than welcome at the game. Business as usual in most places with restrictions.
You'll find locals out at restaurants and bars early evening. We have seating restrictions, most are following them except the college hangouts.
Our uptick is related to the college kids I believe, UW is doing thousands of tests.
If you come through Laramie, we like The Library for food and beers, they have cans to go also. Servers wear the masks, patrons do not. We've been sharing tables with close friends for months now, no positives among us.
I would not be surprised if you skip over Laramie though. You may find different levels of following the guidelines around the state, we hear some towns have just ignored them.
Safe travels and good luck !

no point stressing over what you can't control.

take "rational" precautions (where a mask if you have to be close to people and for gods sake ,don't drink clorox!;):ROFLMAO:) and you'll be fine. even in the event you do get sick, it is extremely unlikely you will die.
life MUST go on ,till it don't. besides... there are literally thousands of things that could do one in and most are worst ways to go. :D

good luck on your hunt! hope you have a grand time!
