The Age Old Caliber Question...

Figured this might stir up a little debate, what are your thoughts?

30-06 165 grain Hornady Interbond.... Same bullet for everything from antelope to moose. I think I may be drifting towards species specific rifles but for now this is the all around gun and load for me.

Yup it's hard to go wrong with this rifle/bullet combo. Though I'm sticking to my 7mm mag. It has never let me down. 150 grain for deer and antelope and 175 grain for elk.

I have to agree with Guy on this one, but what fun would it be to limit yourself to one caliber?! If I had to limit myself to only one rifle from my safe, it would probably be my .300 Weatherby. But I'm having fun with all of them, from .22 to .375!

7mm is my go to caliber because that's what I have. But, the 30cal having a bigger range of bullets is so true.

First for me it would be .30 caliber. Hard to choose between my trusty 30-06 or my great .300 Wby. If I was going to have just one for all North American game, it would have to be the Weatherby because it does such a great job with the 180 & 200 grain bullets for elk, moose & bear.

I like my 7mm Rem Mag with a Nosler 160 bullet. Used it on everything from Coues deer to Alaska Yukon moose. When it speaks something is going to hit the ground.

I've been shooting my 30-06 for years now and love it. I shoot a 165gr for deer and planning on 180 for elk if I ever draw out. I have a 300 win mag that I got when my grandpa passed, but haven't gotten around to shooting it any yet. I'm sold on the 30 caliber and its versatility. Also shot 150 grain bullets when we were in Texas with the smaller bodied deer

The .30-06 (among other .30s) is the "one size fits all."

I just prefer a little more variety.

I really like my 7wsm with 160 accubonds

I have a 30-06 that I shoot with 165 grain Nosler partition bullets. That weight seems to be the overall best performing one for that caliber and works well on most anything, though it may be a bit much for pronghorn.

I will also shoot a .270 for deer just because it was a gift and is meaningful to me.

But if I were starting over and had to stick with one caliber, I might just choose the 6.5 Creedmoor.

I also like the ol' aught-six, nice 'n easy on the shoulder with most loads. Although, the .270WCF with 130 gr. partitions has always been a favorite, as has been the .264Win Mag with 140 gr. bullets. When looking into the safe, the .270 is in the front, ready to go. That says a lot!

Not a one caliber guy or even one specific bullet weight. Tend to use 6.5, 7mm, 30, 338, with a 6mm every once in a while for antelope.
I use 6.5's and 7mm's more than anything.
Not necessarily going to go lighter weight, for say antelope just because they are smaller, as lighter weight bullets will drift more in the wind compared to the heavy for caliber bullets.
Sometimes I just change things up, well, because I want to
