I told my taxi Im not a fan of faux velvet. On my deer I dont want to hide imperfections. I want to bring it to life. Well she responded with " I think its crazy. And I would rather not do the work until you are here and I can point the finger at you if it does not look right" after I told her " I want BLOOD vivid, red, wet blood. Instead of faux velvet". Im not sure if this has been done before but I think it looks amazing! And couldn't be happier with the progress. Ill update opun completion. Wish I would have thought of that with my first archery buck. Instead I just had them strip the velvet off since he destroyed it when he fell down through a granite rock pile.

I have to agree with the taxi, I don't like it. Looks like muscle tissue.

The only thing I would add to my previous comment is that it would look a little more realistic with some of the velvet haning down. Still the overall idea is pretty cool. I am anxious to see the finished product.

That's a new one for me. If you like it then that's all that matters. I like anything unique and different.

Its airbrush. We replicated the white, black, red tones and then sprayed it with the same gloss used on nostrils in the finish process and that really makes it pop! Ill get some better quality photos opun completion. These are all iphone pics

I guess I'm a bit old fashioned, but I'm not a fan of this much "reality"...sorry. I would much rather see all the velvet stripped and the horns worked to look like they would when they are full hard horn. Just my view.

No offense taken CC. I like differing of opinions. Im getting the hint my mindset is a bit abstract for some. I never had the chance to see him hard horned or that may have been an option. To me with the added colors it adds alot of life to the mount down the road. It will always look " fresh" in years to come.

I guess the reason I feel this way is I am not an archer. Rifle hunting season tends to be later and the bucks are mostly hard horn. Of all the bucks I taken, only a few were still in the velvet, and most of those in the process of stripping off the velvet. Only one was still full velvet and he was a stag...no cahones. His horns were really different and I am sure he would have mostly stayed in velvet.

If most of the bucks were still in the velvet when i hunted them, i might feel differnt.

These were with the rx100 point and shoot. You can kind of see where I blended the rear main beam with some more blood look. In the previous pics you can compare. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1368487628.401153.jpgI phone

Its a bit exaggerated. Here is the opposite side not as much rubbed on this side but a good comparison. This was after a pack out. And a long drive. But no actual field photos. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1368496747.142907.jpg
