I've lived in the Stl my entire life(metro east). As stated above i would steer clear of living north of I70 in St Louis county. There are some decent options in St Charles county. Illinois has some decent options as well and i could tell you all you needed to know about that area. As far as the hunting goes there are lots of places to turkey hunt, big whitetails, and some pretty good waterfowl opportunities. Go Cardinals

Thanks. Just looked at a really nice home in St Charles but no chance for a workshop area. Plus a couple nice homes by Wildwoods. Still looking.....round 2 starts tomorrow.

I lived in St. Peters for 6 years. Check out a neighborhood called Savannah. It used to be decent. I Loved it. They have the RecPlex and good schools also. The RecPlex is very nice workout place that is very cheap if you are a St.Peters resident. They have hockey rinks, basketball courts, weight rooms, and Olympic swimming and diving pools. Also liked Wentzville area and Troy if not too far from where you work. Little quieter and more peaceful. Also like Fink said you're close to good turkey and deer hunting and morels. Check out Reform when looking for public ground to archery deer and turkey hunt. It used to be loaded. And wasn't too crowded in the beginning but got a little more so. Obviously there is a lot of other public ground all over the state and lots of turkeys. I miss MO a
lot. Great great state and place to live. PM me if you have any other questions or looking for suggestions.

Move is almost here. Closed on the house last week. Movers show up Monday and deliver next Saturday. I hope this goes smooth.....I need to find some new hunting ground for this fall.

Good luck. I wish we could have met up before you leave the buckeye state.
Who knows, maybe we'll share a camp out west in the future. :) Best of luck to you and the family.

Sounds good to me. Let me know if you are passing by. St. Louis can be a good midway point to out west if need be. Although I think you are already 4 hours closer to the west then I am so maybe not.😃

Where did you end up finding a house? I might have to look you up next time I'm in STL for meetings if I have some time between them. Best of luck with the move! Hopefully yall get a dry day for moving! They have been hard to come by lately!

I'm in Chicago burbs but my work has taken me to St. Louis and eastern MO for last 8 years. I inspect all the post offices in SL for repairs. I'm a public land guy and have scouted/hunted many of the areas within my inspection area so I tried MO for turkey, but only scouted for deer. I did find a lot of morels. I can tell you this much. I have been hunting Illinois & Iowa public land for 25 years, and each year I see fewer & fewer MO license plates in our lots, to the point now that I see none. This is not by accident. I think they still have the OBR management over much of the state and it has made an obvious difference. I did meet a few postmasters over the years who had cheap leases and photos of stud bucks, so I'd definitely give that a try.

Haha I know this place, although I live in Chicago area. My work takes me to SL a couple times a year and I take my skates because they have so many ice rinks there. Googled several and ended up at RecPlex last year. Was very nice. Stayed overnight at a Wentzville hotel.

If you go to downtown SL I'd suggest parking at the casino across river in IL, and taking short train over bridge. Very convenient for baseball games. But I'd suggest being a Cubs fan because they are stacked, with even more coming up, and after this year the Cards will have to get used to finishing in 2nd until ~2023.

I used to do that to get to the games but now I park a Lumiere casino. Free parking and free shuttle to the game. It will be good to see the cubbies playing some good ball so that the cards/cubs games have meaning standings wise. Injury bug hit again last night with Holiday going out. Probably not feasible for the cards starters to keep up the outstanding starting pitching so the NL central race should be exciting down the stretch.

Thanks I'll have to try that next time. Finally got big screens at Wrigley and rid of some of those stupid rooftop entitlement owners across the street. It's one of many long needed upgraded. In the meantime I enjoy visiting other parks while on my work travels. So far favorite is Miller Park in Milwaukee. Awesome retractable dome.
