Just curious- Was anyone unsuccessful when applying in the special drawing for a general tag? The way the odds are published it appears there were some but I know in years past it showed this but wasn't the case.

Yes elk- It always has been a sure thing but the odds on the WGF site show considerably more applicants than available tags. It has shown this in years past as well but everyone drew the tag. I was curious if anyone was actually unsuccessful or if the numbers don't reflect reality again.

If you are talking about 1st choice, then everyone was successful. I drew as 2nd choice. Not sure if I was a lucky one in that group or they all drew too, haven't heard that anyone drew 3rd.

The draw odds reports do not accurately reflect odds for Gen tags and doe/fawn tags.
Special gen has been 100% for every applicant that applied for that hunt, regardless of points for the last decade. That changed this year primarily because there were an additional 300 1st choice apps. For 2015 all 1st choice apps drew as did many 2nd choices, but not all.

Game & fish told me that it is possible to have more applicants than tags is because some apply in groups. Take it for what it's worth
