Nice Mulie Hymer! Congrats. We'll the wife and I weren't successful in taking down a buck in our black powder hunt, however I think I was successful at finding a new hunting buddy. She was great during the hunt. Her eyes are better than mine and she spotted quite a few deer while we glassed. We saw 5 bucks, two of which weren't legal. We had a nice 1.5 hour stalk on a forker on the next to last day. It was only a forker but for those 90 minutes, it was exciting. Back at the tent, she couldn't stop taking about that hour and a half and how exciting it was. We learned a bit more about the unit we hunted. During the pre hunt scouting we saw no one over the course of the few months building up to the hunt, and the week of the hunt the place exploded. We were able to get away from most hunters by just getting a half mile to mile off the roads. Unfortunately the rumors of this unit being road hunter city were true. I heard the sounds of ATVs from 6am to 7 pm every day. I'm not really into that style of hunting. I'll just leave it at, "I don't agree with some folks that style of hunting is really hunting". We saw lots of deer. Most were does but seeing that many deer is much better than hunting all week and not seeing a thing. We saw some turkeys and a beautiful gray fox. She also found a nice shed. Only on the final morning did I have trouble getting her up and out of the tent. She was tired by the final morning. She's already talking about next year and getting out more to shoot. Heck maybe if work slows down a bit this month, I'll look into a private cow elk tag for her.
Here's few pics from hunt.
