Every year I am thankful for some items that just work and thought I would share. A small pad to sit on makes most days more enjoyable in the back country.

Weight is almost nothing and get a tough foam pad cut to chosen size. I put mine on the back of my pack and pack it every single day so it is the first thing to come off even before the spotter so I am never sitting on damp or cold ground.

If you glass at all sitting down a small sitting pad is worth its weight in gold as you will find that you easily extend your glassing sessions.

been cutting up old backpacking sleeping pads for years for this very purpose. Weighs nothing and keeps you warm.
I prefer the non corrugated pads, that way the pad rolls up easier and smaller. you can even fold it.

I cut one in half this year and carried that. It is long enough to get my upper torso on it. I can use it to take midday nap on or put under my air pad for extra insulation if it gets cold. Great item to have for 7-8 oz.

Don't forget it is also a standing pad. Getting your feet insulated from the ground will keep the keep the cold from soaking in.
