I am planning a hunt in Colorado this year for deer and antelope. I would like to try out this sitka gear. I will be hunting in the mountains some and in the pinon country so I want to make sure I have pants that have plenty of knee padding and comfort.

what I would like help with is if some of you could give me suggestions on what to buy as far as layering and so on.

thanks

Merino base layers. There are some great brands that are not as expensive. I really like my mountain pant s but if you are a hot blooded type and dont like being warm i would go with the ascent pants. Can always layer ip when cold. or the kuiu attack pant
If you are going with a softshell i can speak enough of the jet stream
. If your going a dif. Route. Get a very nice rain jacket and skip the soft shell completely dont forget your puffy. And i am a big vest fan. Just a merino base and a vest can keep me going while its pretty damn cold outside. It really comes down to the weather you are going to be in. But hopefully i got your head spinning. Haha. Best of luck and keep us updated

First lite. Makes some phenominal gear. Ice breakers. Def. Go with the ascent pants or kuiu attack pants. Look up some backpacking gear. Durring early season i will actually wear mountain hardware hiking pants. And thats while archery hunting. Just giving you options to save some dimes. You will like yhe two pants stated above though

Slim Jim gave you great advice. Sitka makes great merino. Add a traverse shirt, jetstream jacket, and a kelvin vest and you will be ready for everything.

I just got a bunch of core4 gear. I am happy with everything. I got the switchback pants. They are a pretty good value. They are not the same quality as the sitka ascent pant, but I think they are close. The cargo hip pockets are a huge deal to me. I am really not happy with the size of the hip pockets on the switchback pants. The pockets in the ascent pant are about 2 inches deeper and about an inch wider. that is a big deal for me. If I would have spotted that on the images, I would not have bought them.
