so I just got a email from game and fish with the modified seasons that they are going to present to the April 18th meeting in Casper. Now they canceled the type 6 season for my unit but kept the type 1 from 800 to 600 tags and type 7 from 50 to 25 tags.

Apply in the special side and hope for a miracle.

Sure? Some tags will be available; someone might as well have a go at it. 🤠
Going to be tags available, just a whole lot fewer of them. Doe pronghorn will probably be the lowest tags numbers in many decades here. I think that will be the case for at least 4-5 years as well.

The area I'm applying for has doe tags and my wife and I will try to draw 4 of them, and pitch them in the trash. Lots of my Resident friends are going to do the same.

Why not just eliminate Doe tags for this year until the extent of the die off is known. I can't imagine that they will truly understand the impact of this winter until May or June.

Thats a great question. Most every pronghorn area in the state has way fewer than when I moved here in 2000.

Pronghorn in Wyoming have been in decline for a long time.

Looking at the hunting reg. book, you will find that the antelope tags that are generally referred to as "buck" tags actually state, "any antelope". I don't know how many does are killed when someone can't find a buck, but I don't think that should even be an option when the population is so low.

You can look at harvest reports and see this info at least the ones that has been reported!! Looks like a few but not overwhelming numbers, I think most try to draw so they can hunt bucks, I know I’ve never tried for a doe on the type 1 tags, and still wouldn’t!! But if I do end up getting lucky I won’t pull the trigger unless it’s a book buck or a freak , both on bucket list and have eluded me!!

I think they should make it buck only.

I think they should make type 1 tags buck only and I also will not ever shoot a doe on a type 1 tag , I will eat tags soup first.

The biologist canceled the type 6 tags in my area which is good but not the type 7 tags which doesn't make sense. I'm not a biologist but to me it makes common sense to cancel the type 7 to.
