Your dad should have also taught you when it's appropriate to keep your thoughts and opinions to yourself. If my dad heard or saw that I said what you said he would come out his grave and beat my....

he did teach me. he taught me not to call a stupid act an accident. it is appropriate, to call this what it was not what we wish it to be.

he would have said the same thing and as am I , he would be correct.

true and sometimes bad things happen to good people because they were stupid.
can't fix stupid but nature will delete it.
kidoggy and dirtclod are right. Maybe they weren't stupid but they were both careless and one lost his life.
They were done hunting for the evening and he was getting out of his tree-stand so why was there a shell in the chamber and why would he put his finger on the trigger?

Unfortunate, I won?t go as far as to say they are stupid or ?cull the herd? as I feel that?s a little harsh. I?m sure every one of you have lost someone or know someone who has due to an accident hunting related or not that could?ve been prevented with a little more precaution. I?m also sure many of you have had close calls in life at some point that could?ve easily went the other way and ended in tragedy. If you haven?t, consider yourself lucky and hope it never happens. Thoughts and prayers to everyone involved.

or... consider yourself intelligent.

I doubt anyone is happy it happened . that is NOT the point!

the point is an accident is something that happens that one has no control over .

this was NOT an accident it was an act of negligence.
it did NOT happen merely by chance , it happened because HE chose not to follow BASIC gun safety.

I know it may sound harsh but a man who is 50 or 60 or whatever his age was , that has still not learned to not look down the barrel of a loaded weapon ,is STUPID.

First I'm not happy or glad it happen very sad, second I will be the first to tell you that I have Fucked up in life BUT not when it has to do with weapons. He was 58 years old and should have known better not to hand down his rifle loaded, from education like a hunter safety course and oh COMMON SENSE!!!! If the hunter safety course in his state taught him that than maybe he should've used common sense or move to a different state to actually learn it the right way. Again I'm sorry it happened and don't wish it upon anyone but there is a thing called COMMON SENSE!!!!!! Even his son being 37 fucking years old should have known that and asked his dad if it's unloaded before having him lower it to him. You know it's just like people who drink and drive or don't wear seat belts and end up dying in a wreck, well it's called population control, don't be Fucking stupid and again USE COMMON SENSE and don't do it. This wasn't a accident because it could have been prevented, it's called STUPIDITY AND A LACK OF OH AGAIN COMMON SENSE!!!!!
You certainly could have made your point without all the F-bombs DCV.

Sad deal. Its amazing how many people bring a loaded gun up the tree and how many people I see with their safety in the fire position randomly.

It will haunt the kid forever. So very sad.

Thanks for sharing and reminding people to always be safe.
