I took a bull on the second weekend of archery season and my buddy shot a nice bull 5 days later. My brother shot one the opening morning of smoke pole season. All were mature bulls with cows. They have been talking since the opener in the area I hunt. I couldn't believe how vocal they are this year. I guess it is area dependent. This was one of the best years in recent memory for rut activity. We all shot our bulls between 11 and 12,000 feet.

Lost the bull of a lifetime.. me and 2 buddy's tracked my bull for 8 hrs. Only had blood for 200 yds. Then it dried up. I'm sick.. it'll be one that sticks with me for a long time. If anyone shoot a 320 6x in the snowys with an arrow in the left hip. Please let me know. Best and worst weekend ever!!

Activity picked up where I was at last week, they are starting to get aggressive and respond to bugles this past weekend. This week should be pretty good.

Man, I definitely know the feeling except not with a 320 6x. At least yall put forth the effort to track and find him. You did all you could

I hunted from Sept 1 to Sept 20 and only had bugling a couple times and for a very short period. Best 2 days were Sept 1 and 2? I did pass on a 310-320 on the 2nd day and a small 5 pt later on hoping for a big one but no luck. An outfitter I talked with in the area said they had not taken even 1 bull and had not seen it like this before with almost no bugling and very little daytime activity. My observation was that they were headed to bed between 7 and 7:30 in the morning! Heard a G&F guy (with the same tag as mine) also said it's been the most unusual year he'd seen relative to minimal rut activity. Headed back for the last 3 days just hoping for meat. Anyone with any ideas on why this is happening this year?
