Are rattle snakes aggressive or is it more self defense when they bite people?
They're fairly timid unless cornered or ticked off. Totally different demeanor than the old territorial stubtails. Most ppl just associate them with being dangerous quicker than other species..[for instance, look at this cool red, yellow and black lil' worm...ain't it cute!]

I've only seen one Coral snake in my life. Being a neurotoxin, I heard its pretty bad.

I'm starting to see more of them around yaupon thickets. Oddly enough the last 3 I've found have been coiled up in ground scrapes.

Thanks a lot musket man I'm not going to be Able to sleep tonight because I will probably keep thinking they are in my bed and i will have dreams about them. Not quite that bad but close.I hate those things to death and I have never seen one. I just hate snakes only seen little Gardner snakes. I grew up in a area that didn't have rattle snakes but hunted the western part of nd and they were there but never ran into one. I have been in sd for a year now and everyone tells me they are all over just across the river and I bow hunted and rifle hunted over there last year several times and never saw one,but got so nervous I bought a pair of danner snake boots and hardly wear them cause I love my kenetreks so much. But when I come upon one out hunting there probably won't be any deer left in the county I'm hunting. Thanks for a great thread though.

Hellsfire....in Colorado if ones attacking you, your screwed if it's not between June 15th and August 15th because their protected any other time. And your only allowed to kill three in one day and have six in your possession at a time. You also better have a small game license in your possession. Thank you yuppies! Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!!!

That they know about.......SSS!!!!! When I run into a rattler the last thing on my mind is the date, how many I have killed that day or if I have a license. I claim self defense! lol

No reason to SSS...you just gently brush them out of the way. The ravens and magpies may find them and eat them for you.

I didn't really think it would happen. Since we can't kill our locals ones you have to perfect the technique of brushing them aside.

I am afraid to admit I am afraid of garden snakes, and I mean the kind of fear that invokes girlish screaming and jumping into the air lol! I have blown multiple spring turkey hunts due to snakes.

snake boots and pistol w/snake loads?

tell me again why we need poisonous snakes on earth?

anyone get annoyed watching these animal shows where they relocate poisonous snakes from residential areas to "wild" areas probably just a few miles away?
