I use the 180gr Sirrocco out of my 300 ultra...more than enough...and my wife shoot her deer with it...
The answer to your question is no. Spend a little more cash and try the Partitions.would you consider a 140gr Winchester Supreme Ballistic SilverTip in 7mm rem mag a good round for elk? the ballistics charts i've seen tell me that this is a great bullet. what do you all think?
Yep....in 100% agreement! Shot my first elk with it in the 60's and have never needed anything elso. Also got a couple of moose. Deer and antelope are another story. Sierra Game Kings are my choice and have been for years.I've been using the Partition for 50 years. I suppose there's better bullets now, but i've never had a failure. I don't see a good reason to try anything else.
When my .300 Wby shoots less than minute groups out to 500 yds with partitions and my handload.....you think I would ever consider changing....NOT!I think partitions are fine performing bullets. The thing is Accubonds perform the same (partition-like terminal performance was the design goal) but have much higher ballistic coefficients. It is a win-win.
Good point CC!When my .300 Wby shoots less than minute groups out to 500 yds with partitions and my handload.....you think I would ever consider changing....NOT!
