I’m wanting to hunt the dunes for elk but with point creep do you think with 12 points I will ever get the chance to hunt there?

Right now there are 1700 Nonresidents in your draw pool with 12pts. With the small amount of tags given you don't have a very good chance. Attached is the preference points going into the 2021 draw.
Maybe in 30ish years. If you just want to hunt there and don't care about what elk tag you have in your pocket, once you burn your points go with a type 2 or put in for a cow tag. At least you'd still get to experience elk hunting there.

Not sure what late season unit 64 is at but I’d bet it’s right around there. Super fun hunt with quality bulls. If interested I’d share my experience.

If nobody drop out, you are looking at over 50 years. Assuming a decent amount of people pass, quit applying, settle for something else, etc- your best case scenario (other than hitting the random lottery at some point) is about 25 years. There are other open terrain hunts where you can shoot a good bull that you could draw sooner.

If it was me, I would burn your points and start applying and hope to get lucky in the random pool. At least then you can hunt WY elk at least once lol

I am thinking now of burning my points for next year and go with a outfitter in unit 61, Shoshone Lodge Outfitters.
I have sent a email to them looking for some details. Waiting on their reply.

You can't go wrong with booking Josh's Outfit. You'll have a great hunt and most likely kill a very nice bull.
