I'm against point banking - you draw a tag, your points go poof. I think that it should apply for 2nd draw as well. Maybe not 3rd draw or OTC. The guys playing the systems are good at what they do.

I'm all for point averaging. The dude with the points should be able to use em as he sees fit and if he wants to share with his kid, wife, buddy, or even some guy he is basically gonna guide for, is up to him. When you have 10-15-20 points, then you can say no, I don't want to do that. Until then, why not let the guy with the points decide? It will reduce the number of high point holders, open up more "trophy" hunts for lower point holders.

I never understood the big aversion to sharing points with your hunt buddies. We always hunt "all for 1 and 1 for all". I can care less if my hunt buddies use my points or fill my tag even. We hunt 2 guys to a permit down here & share the bag limit...(all legal - otherwise you hunt solo)

The arguement you make for your 2nd point about Point Averaging can just as easily be applied to your 1st point: "Point Banking: The dude with the points should be able to use em as he sees fit ..."
Some folks "burn" 15 pts on a 10 pt unit.

In a point banking state, he could put in and instead of using em all, just use as many as necessary. The banking thing is like buying stuff with "credits". You waited 20 years to hunt a 5 pt unit 4 times back to back, to make sure he gets a good buck. Y'know, I think I'm coming around - he did wait 20 years to hunt 4 times. Allows to learn the unit and hunt it correctly.

Also understand the concept of someone cheating by point sharing. If you wait in line at a restaurant, get the table and someone joins you for dinner, the others in line don't get all upset. That's how I see point averaging. many states do this.

Will they do point averaging and point banking at the same time? I have 10 and you have 3, costs me 7 and you 3 for the 5 pt hunt, leaving me with 3 left over?

Pretty happy to be getting out of this game. Everyone wanting to make better chances/opportunities for themselves and worse ones for the other guys. I always saw the points as holding your place in line - when you get to your destination, get your tag, go hunt, go to the back of the line...

Point banking isnt one of those popular things all the states do like limiting NR hunters.
I really don't know what you mean by that.

Regardless, your arguement, "The dude with the points should be able to use em as he sees fit ..." applies to both cases.
My points = My decision n how to use them.

What I mean is that states like WY don't let you bank points - you can burn 20 points to hunt a 3 point unit if you'd like (and some have for guided or private land hunts). The law doesn't allow you to say I'm only gonna give you 3 of my 20 points. They take it all when you draw that tag.

Most states do not bank points is all I'm saying - it's not like the recent trend to try and stop or slow the encroaching NR hunters.

Wyoming is next to do it. Watch! ...........BOB
Hi Bob.

With the multitude of changes and such, I won't be surprised.

That will allow the high point holders to control the game board and get something out of all those years they spent waiting. Not gonna be nice for the guys without as many points, but that's what it's all about.

Why they will, Smart $ . I have 15 points. instead of one premium hunt I can hunt a 4-5 point unit 3 times and they get non resident fee 3 years in a row. Its a win win for them.......................BOB!
