It wasn't stated in the article if a firearm or archery was used to kill the deer. I am sure that there are state laws about possession of a firearm on school property, and a charge relating to that would not be "double jeopardy". It's possible that was part of a plea bargain. Either way, I agree that many poaching convictions result in a too lenient punishment.
