I am trying to find a pack for my wife and not succeeding very well. I would like to keep the price under $300, not looking for a game hauler but maybe weights upto 60 lbs, 2000-4000 cubic inches of storage, and one that can hold a gun too would be nice.

It seems most packs are made for mens frames and do not fit her well. What recommendations do you guys and gals have?

I may have to look at the traditional hiking packs, but I am hoping to find something that has a built in scabboard to help my wife keep her hands free when we are going in or out.

We just strap the rifle or bow to the outside of my wife's pack. works good for her.

I have a badlands women's backpack and it's way to small for my frame and doesn't fit me well, I think for someone smaller it would be a lot better

My wife carries an Osprey Aura 65 when she does overnighters and such. Its a pretty big pack, something like 4,000ci. She is able to strap her rifle on the outside using a combo of the compression straps and a side pocket.
She also has a Badlands Kali that she loves. Its only about 2500, so she uses it for real lightweight trips or as a day pack.

Many moons ago, my brother had a Kelty composite frame pack. It seemed very small to me and I remember thinking it might make a good youth or ladies pack. I'll bet if you decided you didn't need the latest & greatest (with the price tag to match) you might be able to find one of these on e-bay or CL fairly cheap...worth a look, anyway.

I'm going to try visiting REI in the very near future and try some "non-hunting" packs. We did try several packs from Cabelas last week. I was surprised, but my wife liked the Cabelas Instinct packs but she isn't completely sold on them yet.

It seems that Cabela's is extremely pricey on packs. My son needed a new pack and picked out an under armour pack for $90. Checked online, exact same pack was $45 at REI. Ended up getting it from Amazon for $31. Exact.Same.Pack.

I can agree with that. Ive found Cabelas to be getting more and more expensive for anything that does not have the Cabelas on it. Even there "brand" is starting to get pretty pricey.

Work2hunt, I have a Eberlestock X2 backpack and rifle/shotgun scabbord for sale $175. Excellent condition as it was used 4 days. I am 6' 1" and just need a larger pack.
