Just wondering, what outdoor tv shows do you actually like? There are a lot of bad shows on outdoor tv, what are your favorites?

Mine are probably- Meateater, Fresh Tracks, Eastmans, Into High Country, Western Hunter, and that seems to be about it for me.

Yes to those and & Jim Shockey's Uncharted and Live to Hunt with Cody Robbins are great shows. I really like that on these shows these folks are not full of themselves!! Solo Hunter is another very good one I like. Darn there are quite a few, but all of these listed are great.

Don't watch too many. Just like magazine writers, you never see a product they don't like. Hunts are just too staged, they never tell you (or show you) bad hunts, animals missed a or ones that they couldn't retrieve. Just too contrived to suit me.

Completely forgot about solo Hunter, I like to a lot too. Shockeys show is also good, I just don't catch it very often and sometimes the hunts are a little too exotic for me.

I like Cody Robbins show to. He does a good job. Seems very passionate. I've met Steve Rinella on a flight to Bozeman. Seemed to be bothered when I tried talking to him. I mean damn it ain't like your a movie star! I do like his show and he does good in front of the camera but not very approachable when I ran into him. But maybe he was having a bad day...who knows. All the shows they put on now a days aren't very good. A lot of garbage out there. I do prefer all the western style hunts that aren't on private property...especially elk, moose, goat, sheep, and mule deer.

Totally agree with you CC. Too much showing off the food at the lodge, commercials, etc. I'd like to see some blood trailing, field dressing, and such. I only get the Outdoor Channel and miss a lot of western hunting shows that I think would be good. Definitely love Eastman's and how the show is put together. The old time music from the Gordon Eastman films from time to time hit me right where I itch. Uncharted, Solo Hunter, and Cody Robbins are about the only other ones that I try to catch. Whitetail deer shows are too cookie cutter, as well as number of other things.

Mainstream outdoor entertainment TV has too much advertising and propaganda. How hunters are portrayed on TV is no way like how it really is. I prefer shows I can watch on the internet but even those guys fall under pressure of social media. But the shows mentioned are the better ones to watch, Eastman's, solo hunter and Jim shockey shows which I prefer over others

I like those too except for into high country because it has the most depressing backgound music ever.
There are so many bad tv hunting shows now. The majority are hunting with a guide on a private ranch somewhere.

I don't watch enough consistently to really have favorite shows, I record some, don't always watch em all.

There are so many bad shows it's ridiculous, on a 30min show, 20mins is advertising, or talking amongst buddies etc... about life and all sorts of therapy nonsense.

Good shows, have good hunts, good locations, scenery, I don't want 20mins of sponsors, I know they have to mention them or clearly seen in the episode, but non stop mention etc... and then 3 mins of hunting or skunked, thank god for the dvr! haha.

good luck!

How about a personal list of all the Outdoors TV shows that really suck? There's a bigger list there for sure. I like Eastmans/Meateater and as far as the whitetail shows go, Roger Raglin's is the only one I watch. I saw Stan Potter whimper like a little girl after shooting a buck...never again will I watch him or the others.

Eastmans', western hunter, MeatEater and Solo Hunter, and Jim Shockey of course are all great shows!! I really like the shows who focus on Public Land hunts. Can't stand the private property hunting shows for some reason, takes all the fun out of hunting.

Working two jobs, hunting and spending time with the wife and family, not to mention preparing to teach on Sunday, I don't have much time for TV. I might watch the news with my wife and the game on Sunday, but that's about it except for Eastmans' Hunting TV which I enjoy, partly because it's well done and also because I work with everyone on the show. I would love to be able to catch it streaming so I could cut the cord.

Probably the most commercialized show out there is Cabela's American Archer. It's just blatant product advertising.

When I have looked at other shows once in a blue moon, there is way too much non-hunting footage. That's something EHTV does well - they consistently focus on the pursuit and have very little camp time.

The other things that bugs me about other shows are the girls with perfect makeup and curled eyelashes and just about everyone putting on like they're over the moon about the 10th buck they shot that year on private land. I just have this thing about insincerity, it really bothers me.

I have 3 or 4 outdoor channels and I have just recently watched some of them for the first time in a couple of years. Eastman's and Jim Shockey are the only one's I have seen that I can pretty much get into every episode.

I'll DVR some of the one's that seem to have been favored here and check them out. If it wasn't for DVR I wouldn't watch much of anything besides the weather and news. And maybe a little football and baseball.

Can't stand the vast majority of them, just over the top blokes chasing fame.

There's one aussie one I love though, "beyond the divide". A bloke that hunts purely for the love of hunting. He runs a hunting company moroka30, never does the hard sell on his gear either. Just seems like a genuine bloke.

Look it up if you can 👍

The only shows I watch are Roger Raglin and occasionally eastmans. 98% of them are GARBAGE! I long for more shows that the average hunter can relate to. If they would try that angle they would have a huge audience. Roger raglan rules although it is sometimes amusing to watch stan potts cry

Roger,
Randy Newberg's shows will be to your liking. Check them out when you feel the urge. Stand up sportsman as well.
