Well how'd everyone do? The night before the opener I had 6 bulls, one good. 6, a satilite, and some spikes. Day 2 had 3 small bulls at 27 yds but due to horn restrictions I couldn't hammer down. Day 3 was rain and wind filled. Bulls didn't want to respond to a cow call, no bugling.

If all goes according to plans I will be doing my first banzai backpack trip of the year Thursday.

Lots of weather/rain the first couple of days then hot and windy the last couple this weekend here in Colorado. Bulls aren't talking yet. Called in a cow and calf and put on a practice stalk on a 4 pt. bull. With all of the moisture we have had this year I thought the elk would be more vocal and active early, but it sure didn't seem that way this weekend. Also picked up my trail cams in fear of thievery so here are some of the better bulls I got on film. Anyhow, no confirmed kills as of yet, but we still have most of this month and hopefully the bulls will start talking soon!

Nice pics. Are #1 and #4 the same bull?
Yep. Haven't seen him all summer. I saw him while we were up there from a long ways away. He was the only bull that had any cows(4) with him. Pretty nice bull long beams decent point length, although his 5th's are a little short. Still a great OTC bull I'd love to have him on my wall.

Gonna have to give him the old stick and string for taunting me. My buddy calls these bulls unicorns. We have pictures of most of these bulls just days before the season started and for some reason they just disappear like mythical creatures.

I was hunting northern CO and finally caught up to a 5x5 that I could get drawn on by the 4th day of the season. He is my first bow harvested elk, not my biggest bull but definitely the most memorable. I will post some pics when I have time later.
