OnXmap Help Please

I ordered the OnXmap chip for my Garmin and it arrived the other day. The chip came in, I downloaded Basecamp from Garmin. According to the instructions, I should be able to insert the microchip into the adapter and plug it into my computer to be able to start using the maps. I put the card into the computer, nothing happens. I then go to the Onxmaps website and find a tutuorial where it tells me to Log In, then go to My Maps and then get my code. The problem is, there is no code to see on My Maps. So, now I'm stuck.

In order to see the map, do I need to put the chip in the GPS, then plug the GPS into my computer? I'd appreciate any help people can provide, step by step please. I'm leaving for CO in days, and never thought I'd have an issue being able to load it onto my computer!

Thanks

I had the same problem. I plug in my GPS (with the chip installed in it) into my home computer and load it into Base Camp. Works this way for me.

I just bought one for my new Rino yesterday. I went to the OnX website and signed in. At the top there was a tab for registering the Chip. When I went there it walks you through the process of downloading a chip updater app, which you install on the PC and then it will update the chip. After that the chip worked perfectly in the PC and the GPS.

Looks like I'm going to try this. Thanks.

I got it to work when connected to the computer (I have an older Garmen eTrex Vista HCV. I marked some waypoints on the map on the computer and transferred them back to the GPS. When I turn my GPS on with the card in, I see the waypoints around my house (I live in PA and have a CO chip installed). I'm wondering how do I get to see the map on the SD card, will it only come up when I am in CO this week? I thought I'd be able to access it on my GPS at home? Anyone know of that is the case?

4 days and counting till CO!

It sounds like you are just looking at the current GPS location. You will have to scroll all the way to colorado to see the map. On my older 530 HCX Rino with it's slower processor it took forever to scroll that far. It would be easier to put it in your computer with Base Camp on it and study it that way. I do that all the time. I have OnX on my phone, laptops, GPS's and even their version for Google Earth. That is really useful to get an idea of the real view likely to be seen once you get out there. I have used it to find hunt locations and camp sites and all kinds of stuff.

you can put the chip into a micro sd reader and stick, that in your computer and look at the maps.
