My morning started @ 3 am with a gun in my hand and random guy at other end of my barrel. Adrenaline rush + 3 am= drained before starting work!! In conclusion I'm going to get my cwp ASAP. I need to learn my rights if this ever happens again. On a good note the cops arrived quickly when the wife told the dispatch "my husband has his finger on the trigger and will shoot if this escalates. Please hurry!"

Some unlucky fella get caught breaking into a vehicle?
Some unlucky fella had a bad drug trip and wandered into the wrong yard. And then tried to kick in the wrong door. Rough day for that guy. I was a muscle twitch away from murder charges.

I was spinning circles for the first 30 seconds. I heard the banging and thought my wife had fallen down the stairs. Our 2 year old daughter usually wakes up about 3 am and we grab her out of her bed and put her in ours until the alarms go off. I ran to the stairs and there was no one there. I looked back and wife and kid are in bed scared out of there mind. And then he started kicking the piss out of the solid oak front door. I grabbed the gun, slammed one in the chamber, took the safety off and said "if you make it thru the door your as good as dead (the word cox¥£€cker was used a few times..) took about 5 minutes for cops to arrive and arrest him. That was a loong 5 minutes!!

You are lucky they got there that quick. "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away!"

Wow Hardstalk, it's good to be armed at a time like that. It can change your vocabulary a little to something they can understand, even on drugs! I'm glad you and your family are safe.

Sawfish, you are absolutely right on this. It's not a knock on law enforcement as much as it is a driving point for a strong second amendment.
As a retired Cop, I always told folks that we would respond as soon as we could get there, but you can't be everywhere at the same time. People have to be responsible for their own safety. The police will take over as soon as they possibly can...and generally do a good job of it.
One point is that the police aren't immune from the dangers either. We had two good troopers shot last Friday while trying to arrest a guy on an assault charge. The guys 19 year old son came out of a bedroom with a rifle and shot the troopers in the back before they could draw their weapons. They leave five children fatherless. Their backup was hours away by airplane.

I fully commended the police and thanked them for arriving quickly. Unknowing if the guy was armed they fully risked their own lives to help me and my family. They did a stellar job!
