M&P 40 shield. going to be so nice not having to carry my ole Ruger red hawk 357 around the backcountry, that puppy is heavy!
Got one a bit over a year ago for the exact same purpose, I really like it. Buffalo Bore has a 40 cal outdoorsman load, 200gr hard cast at an advertised 1,000fps, I load it with. They say to expect 30" penetration in flesh and bone. Mine has fed and functioned with everything I've run. I like it so much, I'll often switch out to a HV HP load to carry around town. Added a LaserMax to it. I think you will really like that gun.

thanks tim, ill have to check that load out. went up to hills today to fire some rounds off and get familiar with it but ran into a butt load of deer and elk instead that occupied my eyes for a few hours:) seen a few nice bucks with only one side on, I glassed the snot out of field they were in but couldn't turn up any head gear. watched a about 15 does chase a yote off that got in to close, that was fun to watch.

That would have distracted me too. You may have to back trail em to find some bone. Hope you can find some. If you try that load, they say it is standard pressure. It recoiled similar to a hotter 125-140 gr. load when shooting, I was pleasantly surprised at the moderate recoil.

Night sights go on all our carry pistols. Quality holsters. Spare magazines and a way to carry them.

I think the biggest one was finding a holster that worked well for me. Got a great one now, but it took a couple tries.

A .40 Shield with hot loads is interesting.

ETA: I do have one setup that has a flashlight on it, but it sucks to carry IWB.

Two Saturday's in a row I've worked on vehicles. I'm farther behind now than when I started! One is a simple miss on a 350 Chevy, can't figure it out. Never have I not been able to get a 350 to run, it's just sitting there, I gave up one it for now.. Today it is a clutch master cylinder on a Toyota pickup, for the life of me I can't figure out how to get fluid pressure back to the slave cylinder. It has no clutch now, it just has a tiny leak on the master! I should have left well enough alone! I'm pissed...going shed hunting tomorrow, to hell with the mechanic BS!
