Man, not much time to get in the woods when you have two teen daughters in sports. We have been going to track meets and basketball games since November. One more month and we get a break. I can't to have a free weekend to stomp around in the timber.

Tell me about it! My daughter does competition cheer year round. We travel almost twice a month up to a 8 hr drive one way. I'm glad I only have one kid.

Eight hours is a long haul! The ones that get me are the 3 hour away games on a week night. Gettin home @ 1:00 am and having to work the next day is rough, I like more sleep. It's funny how I don't seem to bitch about lack of sleep when I'm huntin' ..

Our middle daughter did that too. Unfortunately for us, she had serious talent. 4 hours a day 4 days a week, with bills to match for practice, meets from Fl. to WA., I avoid thinking what those cost. I had to send two, daughter and Mom. Jeez. Got her a D1 scholarship, third week of practice hurt her back, career over. Feels like we paid 8+ years worth of college tuition for nothing. But she had a grreat time...

Cool pic hardstalk!

That's too bad she got hurt McCoy. That had to be heartbreaking for her.
Hurt us all. However, the Oregon team she was recruited to did win the Nat Championship a few years later, which is bitter sweet, but does validate her talent. She is married now, with two boys and a husband that hunts and fishes. Christy coaches the sport when time allows. It's all good.

my 9 year old son when asked if he wants to play basket ball or foot ball or baseball he says "not really, that's when the good hunting and fishing is isn't it?" I just patted him on his back and said lets go shoot your bow. haha I lucked out. my hunting buddies son is a freaking athlete and loves his foot ball. had to take a lot of trips home from our hunting trip last year to catch games. part of me wishes son would wanna play but the other part of me is glad he would rather go with me to the hills. he said... isn't hunting a sport? I said yup:cool:

Took last Friday off and did a little fishing. Ended the day with 7 Yellowfin on Friday and some dolphin Saturday. Going to run the beach for Cobia this weekend.

Brought in my first trout from our reservoir. We planted some shrimp years ago to start an ecosystem. A care taker of the place a few years back would bring in a few fish a year to see if the reservoir was ready. He has been gone for a while and I never even thought of throwing in a line to see if we have anything. Brought my daughter up and we got a few minutes of direct sunlight. She reeled it in on a pretty pink pole! Biggest trout to date for me. First fish for her, first fish at the resivor. We were smiling from ear to ear! I understand what he says completely. All thru high school & college I missed most hunting with my family because of football. One I got out of college I had the time to make up for it!!

The Cobia fishing was hot yesterday. We saw 25 and brought 8 back to the dock. Really good day sight fishing for them.
