Day 16/17 got into them for a few hours now going to town to resupply and get a beer report.

Yesterday they torched off for a little but nothing serious. I misjudged a bull as being bigger and got a little too aggressive and he ran off and his cows came to me. He was just a little 4x4 thst sounded big. Apparently his 3-4 cows thought I sounded better also.
Deer are really starting to move more but it's still pretty hot out even up high above 10k.
In town Meeker now to get a few things watch some football then head back up to prep for next week. Looks like it's gonna get cold Wed/Thurs/Fri......I'm betting on them going nuts for a few days.
Aspens are changing quick.

So my father is in need of back surgery and has it scheduled for October. He has a hard time sleeping on a bed or cot for that matter. For the past year the only way he can sleep is in his recliner. So....nothing a little sweat can't fix. I should get some sponsor from the recliner company. I'd be interested if this is the first camo recliner above 10,000
Yes Steelers fans.....that's a Terrible Towel, he doesn't travel without it. Anything for Dad

That is so awesome!I love the table. I sympathize with the back issues as I have to keep muscle relaxers in camp and my day pack. Good luck on the remainder of your hunt and to your dad and his surgery.

Every camp needs a recliner with a cooler sitting right next to it.

Then all you need is the TV and satellite dish and you would be set.

The day 19 recharged and ready to go report. Spent the last 48 hours in Meeker at the White River Inn. Very clean place and reasonable prices. I stay here 3-4 times a year. Food in Meeker equates to the Itailian place ( good steaks also) Mexican place and Chippers sports bar. Gonna grab an awesome breakfast burritto at Wendells Cafe then head up the hill to chase deer tonight. Talked to a few guys in town. Happy to report everyone did worse than my camp so far. Some haven't even found them yet.
Lesson learned here for the novice hunter and I've said this before.....they gotta eat, drink, sleep.....get into the wind and get into the dark stuff.....don't pressure them .....put them to bed I'm the am and get in postion for when they get up and are restless about 1400.
When it's hot like this they aren't gonna be in that picture perfect aspen lined park that you can glass.
Best of luck to all.
May the wind be in your face, shots true and kills clean. It's a great day for elk camp.
God bless.

Day 19 there was elk in my deer spot report. Made it back to camp this afternoon. Took a few shots and was coming up 5 inches left so I adjusted that out. Not sure where thst came from. Ate some pasta and went to my aspen patch to glass for the greys ghosts. Pretty breezy and I figured I wouldn't see anythjng till the last 30 min of light. Low and behold roughly 800' in elevation below me 2 small 4 x4s roll out. Are you kidding me, what are they doing alone? Oh well I can't just let em walk, I gotta at least put a stalk on em. Down the hill I go as fast as possible. Aspen leaves are crunchy as all get out right now. Last I glass the two small guys they are play fighting. I get to about 80 yards and run out of cover so I try a set up with the west southwest wind. I lose visual with the two small dudes but out walks a legit 6x6. I feel like my setup based on terrain and wind is good so I start with a few small soft mews. It gets his attention and he starts to walk the way I need him to come. He gets to roughly 70 yards and the west south west breeze stops. He's still coming but slower now and head up. He's smelling the downslope now and I'm pretty sure he gets a small wiff of me. He starts the normal slow walk the other way with the head over the shoulder looking back and goes into the timber. Not really sure where the two small guys went but I suspect the same. Oh well.
Will chase the elk in the am.

The day 20 bull down report. Well after 20 days in camp helping 5 others try and get animals down yesterday was only my 5th day of me really hunting the way I wanted to. Short story for now as I got another full day of pack out ( I'm the only one in camp now) They were screaming from 0730 till 1100 yesterday, had a few close calls with some nice herd bulls but couldn't connnect. Just was too hard calling for myself and trying to pry one away from his girls. This little 4x5 came to the call with a few young cows so I wasn't gonna let him walk. 43 yards dialed into the Spot Hog Hog Father resulted in a clean pass though slightly quartering away. 15 yard tracking job. Love those kind. Made it back to camp with one rear quarter, back straps and loins late after dark last night. Gonna get a big breakfast and get the rest of him out today. 4 miles from camp and 2000 ft drop in elevation is what I got to work with.

Still have that recliner in camp?

A toddy and a nice soft chair would be just what the Dr prescribed.
