Good afternoon all,
I have 10 elk and 11 deer points in Colorado and I am thinking about going all out and booking a deer and elk hunt next year before changes in 2028. I have always wanted to hunt archery mule deer in the Gunnison basin. I have already taken an elk with a bow so would lean on rifle for the elk points. I have been very limited the past couple years getting out west so I am anxious to get back at it! I am curious to hear anyone here's feedback or thoughts?

I would split the hunts up over a couple of years. After waiting that many years I would dedicate as much time as possible to each tag. I know you're worried about point creep, but I look at it differently. The changes in 2028 will open up a ton of hunts that you had no chance drawing before the changes. The odds won't be good but at least you will have a chance. If you decide to burn them in 27 make sure you have a couple more points than it took to draw them last year. The deer hunt I'm chasing has jumped 3 points in 2 years, and the elk hunt has jumped 4 points in 2 years. It seems a lot of guys are looking to burn their points before 28

This. I'd go off the NR line on the draw results too, not the resident one. Deer and elk are separate draws so drawing one doesn't touch your other points. Still going back and forth on my own 8 for elk.
