When I opened my e-mail this morning I was surprised to find a msg from WY that the elk draw results are out. May 20th was the announced draw date, so here we go. NR GEN elk - successful Type 6 cow/calf - successful
YIPPIEE!!!!! So, this puts me on tract for a couple weeks of archery for any elk in Sept., and perhaps 10 days in Oct. with a rifle if I haven't filled the tag yet. Then I go back in January for a solo winter range cow hunt. I wish that I could stagger these hunts, but with the type 6 tag only a 25% chance I try for it every year.

Successful on Type 6, unsuccessful on Type 2. Opposite of what I expected, but still happy with the cow tag.

If it's the Type 2 I'm thinking of ,draw odds will be high for that tag this year, they made it 5pt or less. Good luck on the cow.

There's actually another area with those Type 2 tags that would be great as well, didn't see those until checking the regs this morning.

I applied for a type 7 and didn't get it. Looks like odds were 15%. That's okay, now I'll be applying for a type 1 mule deer license with my 6 points.

16 points and finally drew! Even though we are going guided and could have drawn with less points its a great time in my life to fill this tag with a good hunting buddy and go guided with Shoshone Outfitters.
