At this stage in the game i think your best option is Wy. In august you can get a leftover region buck tag and do a little homework , and might get an antelope tag for the same area. Trophy quality won't be all that great but if not worried about that, that might be the ticket. I know motels, eating out and gas too and from hunting areas can get spendy. Another option is check out campwithacook.com, might save you some money. Also a good hunt to consider out west is ELk in colorado easy to get tags, lots of animals. good luck!!
A good option to motelling it is a outfitter supplied set up camp! These are a great option for those without gear or can't afford a complete guided deluxe hunt. I have seen set up camps go for as little as $750.00. Most of these set up camps all you supply is your own personal gear. They will supply the camp with all of the amenities, you bring the food and hunting gear. Some will even pack you in and pack out any game you take. Many outfitters will custom fit a camp/hunt for you to fit your needs and abilities to pay.
I haven't checked into any of these for a number of years so I'm sure that prices are more now, but when you start adding up motel bills, eating out, and gas bills, it wouldn't take long to pay for a hunt of this type.
If it were me I would check out this option!

*buck tag lol but hmm ill have to look into that might be better than buying an Idaho whitetail tag while im living in billings.
