Was thinking of a lighter weight spotter . Had a older vortex. Left it behind sometimes because of weight . If I got the Vortex Razor HD 11-30 x 50 would I regret it ?

I have been deciding if I should get the razor hd or spending the extra and getting a Swarovski. I have a buddy that just sold his Swarovski non hd and tried the razor hd and really likes it. He said it's really hard to tell the difference between the Swarovski non hd and the razor hd. I bought a pair of El's 10x42 this year and love them so don't know what spotter I should get. I have the leupold gold ring non hd.

Seriously check out the Zeiss Dialyt, sweet scope. Bullet proof too...could beat tent stakes with it and still glass clear as day 5 minutes later.

I'm not sure what you mean by regretting the purchase. If you are looking for lightweight the Razor 50 is lightweight so you shouldn't regret that part of the purchase and itis a good scope. The better purchase is the Nikon ED 50. I believe you will save another 8 ounces if you go with the Nikon.

Not having enough scope for long distance . but then again if I can see a big elk or deer with it I will prob walk closer anyway for a better look

I really like the Razor 11-30x/50 and inside of two miles it does a good job. Real easy in and out of my pack and doesn't need much of a tripod to stay steady.

I prefer the angled because I can use a smaller tripod to lessen weight and bulk.

There is actually an entire thread on this topic. It really just boils down on personal preference. Search the forum for "angled or straight" or something along those lines and you should find the thread

I have the angled and use a vortex light weight tripod " I can't think of the model" the straight may be useful, I wish I bought a straight some times. My thoughts

I've been planning to buy a Vortex Razor HD scope (probably the 20-60x85mm), but I've seen a few of your comments about the Dialyt that are interesting. If you have experience with both, could you give me your comparititve opinions on them?
