New Rifle

Figured you guys would wanna check out the new rifle I have been working on for a little while. Figured I would do the proper work to this rifle before I shot it. It is a Rem. 700 ADL Stainless Steel in 7mm-08 topped off with a Leupold VXII 3-9x40 with the Long Range reticle. I put a Mcmillan Mountain Stock on it and did a light bed job on it, consisted of just bedding the recoil lug, I also Floated the barrel on it. The Mcmillan stock shoulders so much better than the stock that came on it from Remington with much higher quality. With load testing we were getting around 2850-2900 FPS using 44 grains of R15 and 139 grain Hornady BTSP. With only 50 rounds through it the rifle is shooting around 5/8 to 3/4 inch groups. I am expecting these groups to shrink a little bit as it was new brass and the barrel to get broken in a little better. I am also going to try some 140 grain Nosler AccuBond. Those bullets will give me a much higher B.C than the hornady's which will equate to better down range performance. Lookin forward to doing some bear hunting this spring with it. I will post some pictures of the target hopefully tomorrow.

That's a good looking rifle and a solid caliber. I owned and regret selling a .280 Remington I had. Also a great rifle. I think we in Montana are going to be waiting a bit for the bears, there's an awful lot of snow in the hills yet!

6mm,

Lots of snow for sure. Tried to get in the crazies this weekend but lots of closed roads or un plowed roads. the bridgers are opening up on the west side and the gallatin canyon is starting to green up alittle bit as well. Where are you in western montana 6mm?
