Bought my wife a savage model 16 weather warrior. In the 270wsm. It came with the muzzle brake. She got her first deer with it this year.
I have a 270 win and a 270wsm. She wants a gun that is "her" gun though.243win and 25-06rem both great rounds, both flat, I think they're both very close in trajectory, one is a short action, the other a long action.
even flatter, 257wby? 240wby?
if she can shoot a 25-06 she can shoot a 270win/130gr.,
I think my choices would be 243win, or 270win.
get her a weatherby vanguard s2 in .240wby (as flat as the 257wby btw)I have a 270 win and a 270wsm. She wants a gun that is "her" gun though.
The most common reasons are rifle weight and stock fit. When you are holding your cheek off the comb to look through the scope, you often end up getting "kissed."Not all rifles are the same. My Dad has a remington 270 win. That kicks like a mule. Dont no why but it does. Several people have shot this 270. And all thay say is wow. No more for me. Put a sims recoil pad on it. It still kicks. Any ideas why? Its a remington adl 270..
If you want easy to find ammo and a flat shooting deer rifle you can't go wrong with the 25-06. I used to use 100 gr Remington core-lokt, inexpensive-leathal combo for deer for years. I have put 3 elk on the ground with that bullet too.Deer, I'm leaning towards a flatter shootin gun. The 7mm-08 is a great round. I have shot it and it is very impressive. Just not really what we want for her.
