This Christmas I want to get my husband a cool hunting "gadget". I can't figure out what to get him. He bow hunts for deer and elk and rifle hunts deer. My price range is $500, please tell me something you have that you like, or something you saw and you think is cool. Thanks!!

That can be a tough one BG. If your husband has been hunting for a while, he likely has quite an assortment of Gadgets already. My wife has learned to ask first, because I have a lot of good stuff that she doesn't even know about. Most young couples are financially challenged, and a hunter will often spend many years upgrading his gear. I already told my wife to get me a new Kuiu tent. That's effectively $500 right there. You can also get some excellent binoculars, rangefinders, and cameras in that price range. Getting something that is an upgrade and will be used is far more important than the suprise, so take my word on it...ask what he wants, and tell him to be very specific.

I'm in the same boat with the ask first option, but I know that ruins the surprise. Any idea what type of binoculars or range finder he has? What type of hunting style does he do? Backpacking, day hunting, mountains? Here is the reason I would prefer someone to just give me some money or gift card. I need to upgrade my spotting scope, new tripod and head, hunting pack, could always use more arrows and broadheads, sleeping bag, cooking equipment, and some new camo. All of these will meet or exceed your budget fairly quickly at today's prices. If your husband has a list like this, I'm sure there is a certain order he would like them fulfilled as well, but maybe that's just me.

Have you thought about looking into getting him a tag for another state? Many of those will be at or above your price range, but if he is anything like me, I'd rather hunt with the stuff I have than buy gear and not get to hunt. Good Luck!

Now that would be a cool gift. I like that one tdcour! Wish my wife read this...oh well she knows I will just buy it if I want it, but that's a good gift idea right there.

I know women think different that men and they like to buy a specific gift. I personally like gift cards to Bass Pro so I can buy what I need or want and I can use it at my leisure. But that's just me.

One supper easy cheap stocking stuffer that very few hunters are even aware if is blue star blood tracking agent. Stuff is really amazing and is used by law enforcement to investigate crime scenes. It makes blood glow in the dark, and probably it's biggest help is in rain that has washed the visible blood away it will still glow and even show a wider trail. After seeing it work I will always have some in camp. It doesn't fix bad shots, but gives you one more tool to try on tough tracking jobs.

I'd ask for a list and then pick from the list so there is still an element of surprise. I have to give my Mother-in-law a bass pro catalog every year with items I have circled and then my kids do the same. Apparently that magazine makes it around the family and to the North Pole

About 12 years of subscriptions of both Eastman's journals duh

Best of luck on this one....my wife would probably buy me something that I had already bought and hid from her lol.

LOL... That's why you can't hide stuff from your wife;) I do like the multi-year subscription idea.
