Ok my girlfriend will be a 2nd year hunter this year. We're both mid 40s and she likes to go with me and even goes out when she can during trappi g season. Last year we drew a tag that isn't a sought-after tag and saw a few animls but mostly just saw the truck and hotel rooms due to heavy rain. Its time to put in again and trying to decide if easier to draw tgs and smaller/fewer animals but going hunting would be better then putting in for late season hunts and better chance of success and chance or a larger animal. I really enjoy showing her the outdoors that i live for but not sure which option will be the best. She just says "I'm new so you decide". So whts your 2 cents

Put her in for tags where she will have the best chance for success and it will be a good overall experience (more moderate terrain, good access, etc). My wife and daughter weren't particularly driven by trophy quality, they just enjoy a quality hunt and experience. I think antelope tags and high success antlerless tags are hard to beat for first time hunters.

We apply for everything but just about only tag she even has a chance at in nevada is deer. Hate the bring your own rock to sit on types of hunts but not sure if we wait 4 or 5 years to hunt again that she will still even want to try.

I would advise not pushing trophies on her and just let her do what she wishes. if she would be happy killing a doe or lil buck , great. imo, it is better to take beginner hunters on hunts where they will see lots of game. wether they kill one or not is really irrelevant. most newbies are are content so long as they are seeing game.if they are not, they are often easily bored and lose interest
I believe many get turned off of hunting when those bringing them are focused soley on "trophies", instead of the experience of the outdoors. if she does not enjoy the experience ,she most likely will not be willing to continue doing it

I was thinking less people and better chances to see and stalk a buck in late season more little bucks thinking with the wrong body part duringa later hunt.

My advice is to get her a hunt. My bride has decided she likes moderate terrain and warmer hunting weather. She could not care less if her critter scored 1 or 1,000. If your new hunter that happens to be a lady said, I'm new and show me, my vote is show her a great experience, not a so called "trophy" hunt. Think back to what lit your fires... For me it was getting out with family and hunting, not how big our harvest may or may not have been. Some of my most treasured hunting memories lack horns and sometimes a harvest, but several involve antlerless harvests. My 2 cents. All that said, if she gets a toad, all the better.

You're thinking more about getting a chance at a trophy by applying her/you for late season hunts. Making her wait 4-5 years because you want her to shoot a trophy is non conducive to making a new hunter.
If you really just want to get out her hunting maybe a doe tag in area 061-068, 071-079 or 101-109,109 because they are almost a sure thing every year.
As far as buck tags go 101-109 early and middle seasons can be drawn every year or two. There are lots of smaller bucks to be had in the easier areas of the Ruby's. There are some really big bucks as well.

Get her ever tag she can possibly get and get whatever matches her tag in front of her. Doe, fawn, cow, calf, something with horns, who cares.
