New cooler manufacturer

I had a buddy email me about this new company- looks pretty good! Anyone know anything about them or use one of these coolers?

I'm guessing that the price difference comes from name recognition and having the majority of market share. If you know anything about roto molding, they probably use the same machine and plastics. One has been gouging everyone for a long time. There is zero difference in their tumblers. Probably made in the same place in China. I preordered their soft cooler so I should be able to do a review of it if anyone is interested.

I have a store branded 115 that is identical to the outfitters 115 below. Added the optional rope handles. Paid $275 two years ago. Very happy. I suspect there is a generic plant making these, as they have a similar look, and are very well built. They hold ice as well as my friends Yeti. But my newer igloos and Coleman extremes hold ice about like a yeti. What I think you get with roto molded is durability. I have put strips of uhmw along the bottom of a couple plastic igloos, solved bottom wear, then replaced hinges and latches with their new stainless steel ones, probably be how I'd go now if I needed a new large cooler. I got the roto one for my boat, diamond plate and bouncing around on the Columbia was death on regular plastic coolers.

They got sued by yeti for copying there design. I don't do business with people who ripoff others ideas. I'd rather do business with canyon coolers, yeti, or collman

Donald Trump sues people too, what's your point? I've seen 50 soft sided coolers at Walmart that are almost identical. Every cheap hard cooler is about the same. There's no injunction to stop as far as I know. A mere bump in the road. Tell me the difference between the 12 other rotomolded coolers? Hinges? Latches?

So, anyone actually have an RTIC? Looking at buying a new cooler, and am kinda tired of the Colemans, etc, I end up accidentally tearing the lids off all mine. RTIC's website says orders today will ship by 7/30. After reading the thread Bob pointed to on Rokslide, I'm not really sure how doable 7/30 is..
If not an RTIC, anyone have a Yeti, K2, Engel, etc? I just want a good cooler that will actually hold ice all weekend, that I can sit/stand on, and won't easily/accidentally tear the lid off.
Also, how does someone have the market cornered on a plastic box with expanding foam inside, with a couple rope handles? Lawsuit seems ridiculous.

I have a yeti,and a icey-tec. both good coolers. I like the canyon coolers too mostly because the latches are more protected. between the 2 I have I don't see any difference in ice retention.

I have 2 Coleman Extremes, one 50 qt & one 150 qt. I've had them 4 or 5 years and have had no issues, lids or otherwise. They keep ice for 4 to 7 days depending on the ambient temp. A friend has a Yeti that he takes on trips we take together and my Extremes keep ice as long as the Yeti does. Just a matter of economics, I can replace 5 or 6 of the Extremes for what I'd be paying for a yeti.

CC, I hate to admit it but I think you're right! I have a yeti 105 and a Coleman extreme. I loaded both up with almost equal ice block and cubed. The ice lasted almost equally. The think I'm not impressed with is it seems the yeti isn't as cold when opening than the Coleman. This was the first time out with both!

I just received the 20 soft sided RTIC. I'm digging the construction. Will see how well it works. Has to be way better than our other work lunch coolers. I'd definitely get the 30 or 40 for a Razor beer cooler.

The secret to keeping ice in a cooler is to keep people out of it and to pre chill what you are putting in it.

I used to head out onto the Utah desert every summer for a 5 or 6 day get together and I usually only took a Gott 60 qt cooler and I always had ice by the end of the week. Others that had kids getting in and out of coolers would have to make a ice run about every 2 days.

A couple of years before the get together ended I picked up a used concrete blanket and took it with me to wrap a couple of coolers up in. Inside those coolers I placed as much block ice as I could fit. Then when my friend decided that it was time to make a ice run I just opened up the blanket and a cooler and gave him a block of ice. Between the blanket and a good but not expensive cooler I could keep ice for a week with very little loss.

JimP.........You nailed it. I have the luxury of owning a 200 lb ice machine that when full will fill two large "white" coolers with nothing but ice. I typically fill one with ice only and the other with food and ice, pre-cooling everything in the fridge. Leave the ice only cooler closed and covered until i need to pull from it when the other one starts melting down from in and out use, works great for me.

I have always want to try a little trick that I though of but you would need a large enough freezer to do it.

Figure out how much water is in 3 blocks of ice and then fill the cooler with that much water and then place it into the freezer and freeze the water solid.

That way you would have one huge block of ice in the bottom of the cooler. In theory it should take longer to melt than even 3 blocks of ice.
