Nathan I can echo your sentiments because I encountered similar lack of pronghorn density in the unit I hunted last year. If a guy is used to Northern CO and Wyoming antelope densities, Nevada is a shock.

I was also watching Mike Eastman on a Nevada hunt on one of the Eastman DVD's in a "well regarded antelope zone" and he had a tough time finding what he wanted in a trophy antelope. It may have been one of the 30 series, I don't know.

But one thing is for sure. That broken country sure is tough to find antelope in. But every now and then a smoker gets killed.

I admire you for staying in the public away from the alfalfa. I think we would get along well hunting together from what I've seen of your adventures.

Upside is you can apply again next year...

Reno Nv
31 is down for Antelope rite now. Nv is nothing like Wy for Antelope that's for sure but there is always great bucks in most units. It's one of those things in Nv if you want to hunt as often as you can you may choose to try for a tag where the number are high but the quality is low vs the opposite.

The Antelope get hunted hard on the opener so they get skiddish after the bullets fly during the first week. So then it's do you want to deal with hunters during the opener or skiddish animals the week after?

The center part of the state seems to be better for numbers but the NW is a bit better for trophy quality. There was a huge fire in the NW a few years ago and I would bet that the feed is pretty good there now with all the moisture we have gotten the last two years.

Good luck

In 031 they are gonna be sketchy by noon on opening day, at least if your huntin the eastern side of the unit. Theres less pressure tword the denio side if your gonna be out there a week after the opener.
