Need Garmin GPS recommendation

I was told by the optics/electronics guy at cabelas that I need to get a unit with an antenna for the back country type of hunting I'm planning to use it for. He recommended the Garmin 62. I see they also have a 62s and a 62sx I think. Not sure what the difference is....

Anyways, any experience with this model? The price point is a tad higher than I was looking to spend, but I'm looking into a re-conditioned one with a warranty.

If any one knows a good site for that, please do share.

THanks guys

I bought a Dakota 30 bundle on sale this xmas for less then the dakota 20. I cant't say for well it works as its still on the shelf in the packaging lol. But if you shop around or wait till certain times of year you can find some really good deals. Cabelas and REI seem to run the best deals

I use a garmin rhino, its touch color screen and the best i've ever used. If you hunt with a partner and use radios its perfect and has built in radio so you can eliminate a standard radio. It has a small built in antenna and you can get all the maps as well as birds eye view maps. Not sure how you guys get gps reception from your cell phones? maybe my iPhone just stinks but i get zero reception in colorado in the backcountry. The battery on the garmin rhino is great and i have used on an 8 day hunt with never recharging. I carry a small solar charger just in case though.

You can also see your hunting buddies location on the map screen if he has a rhino also. They are a little heavy, but are a good unit.

x3 on the rhino also. I would like a little bigger screen but I really like not having to carry a separate radio. Being able to ping your hunting partner to see where he is is awesome.

I have used a 62s for a while and really like it. I have it paired with a OnXMaps chip. Never any issues with either and do the latest update for the chip right before hunting season. I hunt some pretty steep country and from the lowest hole to the highest peak it has preformed flawlessly. I do wish that the screen was a little larger but that's not a deal breaker. It is also very good on batteries.

I bought a Oregon 450T when they first came out and it has been a very easy gps to learn and has ALWAYS got me back to camp !!! I really don't think I would ever need any thing more in a gps.
