Nebraska Ducks are rolling in...

Opening day this past Saturday was a decent opener. Will download pics soon. We took two rookies out and had a great time. Decoyed 40-50 teal in several small groups and 10-15 woodies. Harvested 9 and should have been easy limits. I have seen several large flocks of big ducks coming in the last 24 hours. I think the hunting will really pick up in the next week. Anyone else getting out?

It is a blast IMO. Waterfowl hunting definitely is a notch or two below big game to me but it has such a long season here that I never feel like I have to compromise either one. You really should give it a shot!

Ssshhhsssssss...don't speak of such things. You might convince those just mildly interested in chasing Waterfowl to get out and get after it.

We hunted South Central Kansas over the weekend, ended up shooting half a 5 man limit each day, mixed bag of blue wings, green wings, gadwalls, widgeons, pintails, mallards, and even Ol' Bootlip himself! We messed up a bunch of opportunities, and probably should have shot full limits both days, but sometimes it takes a few days to knock the rust off!

Not much moving in eastern Nebraska. I saw one group of 100 at about 1000' in formation. About it. Gonna flood the lease this weekend.

How'd everyone end up on ducks? I know we have one weekend left, but it has been really rough here in south central. We just haven't had the birds we normally have. There are some here now finally, so maybe we'll get one good one in this weekend. Geese are really starting to show up so hoping to put a hurting on them the next few weeks.
