My son recieved his first 22 on saturday and was so excited. We spent all day out shooting at praire dogs and shooting steel silloutes at the range. He really enjoyed his day. Im so thankful to have a son that enjoys shooting just like me and also loves the outdoors and spending time with me hunting.

Pretty awesome! Very excited to be able to shoot with my kiddo when she gets to be around that age. Can't help but be curious, where did y'all find .22 ammo though?
The guy i work with has a pile of it and gave me some since he knew my son had a birthday and was getting a 22. I was going to get a 17hmr but couldnt find one that would fit him, so bought this savage rascal and we painted it and mounted a 4x scope on it and he loves plinking

Good for you. Never too young to teach them how to use and respect a firearm of any kind. For fun reactive targets, water balloons of different sizes make good targets and he gets to see right away if it's a hit or a miss. Same thing with the metal spinning targets. A water balloon, tomato, egg, or something similar will give him something to see and realize how powerful the .22 is and is not a toy. Hope you guys have years of shooting together.

Good times. I got my first 22 when my uncle gave me his old single shot Savage when I was about 6 but I didn't get to shoot it until I was around 13. I "borrowed" it from my Grandmother's house after she went to work and took it home. Back then I could go to the local hardware store and buy a box of shells. I gave that rifle to my nephew who gave it back to my son when he was 7. Still have that gun in the closet. I gave my son's Daughter a little youth single shot marlin when she was a year old. she hasn't shot it yet but it's waiting. Anyway your boy looks happy.
