With it being the second to last day my wife and I decided to try my honey hole and once again it produced. He was way better than I expected and I couldn’t be happier. Also thanks to my wife for helping pack him out in one trip.DSCN0300.jpgDSCN0287.jpg

He was shot November 26 2011. He was a stag. We didnt even know that when we shot I just saw that he had a good frame and it was the second to last day of the season.

That's the 4th stag buck I have seen shot this year in Montana. Seems to be a lot roaming around these days. Nice buck!

great looking buck. and gotta congradulate you on the DIY I gotta ask is it a common thing to still have buck in velvet ? I was told if a buck looses or damages his testicals that he will stay in velvet all year round

No there is no secret to the DYI I just got my fingers crossed while typing.

fatkid No it isnt common for them to be in velvet this time of year. To my under standing they keep their velvet when they are missing their testicles and do not produce any testosterone that tells them when they need to shed the velvet and become a man.

The bases are huge on him. I really like the cheaters too. I've found a few stags here in Nv as well lately. I love finding them, they really stick out with the velvet in the snow.

This is a buck I found last year in Nov. I wish I had a tag and yes they have either been hurt during a fight or somehow lost the testicals. These bucks do not loose the velvet and I think that they do not shed either.
If you look at this deer you can see how short his nose is and he looks like a very young deer. He has a big body to go along with his big rack but his facial structure is that of a immature deer.
