I drew a Montana Big Game combo today. Who else is going? I will be out there for Archery Elk and then back for rutting mule deer. Two best weeks of the year. I was wondering if they will have surplus tags this year, I am excited to hear how many fellow hunters on the forum are headed to Big Sky Country. Talked to a biologist near Lewistown last week and he said over winter survival was good and the deer had plenty of feed through the winter in the central part of the state. He expects good fawn recruitment along with increasing numbers of mature bucks. The NE corner of the state had a little harder winter but deer wintered well, while SE montana will be close to 2010 numbers. Still lacking lots of mature bucks, but lots in the 3.5 year old range.
