Montana Elk Help

My dad and I will be going to Montana this September for my first western hunt. We are going to a friends land east of Townsend, MT in unit 391. I've been doing some research and it seems to be pretty good country. Has anyone hunted in the area in the past and if so, how was it? I also applied for the 380 limited draw so fingers crossed on that long shot.

Great elk country! I would shoot for the second week of the season to hit full rut.

The moon phase is a little off this year, but I'll be hitting the woods that week as well. A friend of mine took his bull out of a tree stand late in the season in that mountain range. He was two miles in. Never saw another hunter.
