I think that regulations writing about recovering of meat from the woods, not cooking at home. Having bad luck when you are trying to cook your meat is not needlessly allowing meat to go waist and he is asking for advice how to fix that, not just throw away.

Wanton waste occurs during a hunting event when the hunter exhibits neglect or an intent to waste game meat. Shooting a deer and not tracking it, taking the rack off a buck and leaving the meat or even just taking choice cuts of meat and leaving the rest are all wanton waste activities. Making a bad batch of sausage and pitching it is not wanton waste. There is nothing illegal throwing it away. If you burn a steak, its not illegal to throw it out. If you freezer goes out, its not against the law to throw the spoiled venison out.

Thanks for the recomendations I really appreciate it! I did also mix in some pork fat before as the directions called for a mixture, but I haven't tried making meatballs or any other dish with it becides I tried to make Alfredo noodles thinking it would work out ok, since that has been my go-to dish for any kind of gamey meat (always has turned out great in the past). I haven't thought of blending it so I may also try that as my next option along with feeding it to the labs, hopefully they will enjoy a little bit of fried meat!

I actually did some more research to try and find the recipie online and I found it! Here's the link http://www.lets-make-sausage.com/cooking-wild-game.html

Of course the only thing I didn't do was stuff them into casings but I wouldn't think that would of mattered, however I could be wrong. I just feel morally bad throwing out all that meat without making some sort of an attempt to try and make it edible. I don't care who eats it as long as something does

I understand the differing opinions listed by several on here. Montana paints a very broad stroke on their wanton waste law. It reads;

"Under Montana law, it is illegal to waste any part of a game animal that is defined as “suitable for food.” For big game animals, all four quarters above the hock, including loin and backstrap, are considered suitable for food. Wanton waste of fish and game is not only illegal, it’s unethical."

My only point was that it may not be a good idea to publicly advertise or recommend tossing a large amount of unspoiled game meat in the trash. Recently, Montana's game warden reputation hasn't been the best so I wouldn't want to place myself in the spotlight for any reason. I can see the next episode of Wardens showing up at the OP's front door. I believe that missjordan is doing exactly right in this instance in asking for good advice on how to salvage the meat. Really hope it works out.

Somewhere I was told adding Ginger helps with rutty meat, Zumbo's cookbook maybe? I use a marinade on rutty MT mulies that has ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic and a few other things on muscle meat, works great. Anyway, powdered ginger might be worth a try. Thaw some sausage mix, maybe try 4 patties, add some ginger, varying amounts to each, and let it sit overnight, see if it works.

I like to make most of my venison into salami, jerky but mostly I like to grind it up and make differant sausages with it. The thing is if it's questionable it would be tough to put in the time and the cost of making it if it might taste bad. Dog food or toss it.
