I am sure Im not the only member on the site. Going to the dinner for the Livermore/Eastbay area tonight. Maybe we will win something, fingers crossed. Should be a good time anyway. Usually go to the lassen chapter banquet in Susanville but my recent knee surgery sorta put the kybosch(?) on that. Anyone else a member.

Nope. Missed a gun by 2 numbers, but close doesn't count. Got a little fuzzy, met some nice folks, my dad won a box of wild game seasonings and generally had a good time.
In the latest issue of the MDF magazine they "spotlight" Oregon. Appearently the MDF has purchased a bunch of radio collar equipment to place on the mature bucks of the white river herd. THey are tracking migration patterns, habitat preferences and mortality rates. I just remember a lot of talk on the site about the white river unit. Some of the oregonians might be interested.

I was a long time member of MDF, even help start a chapter years ago. No more MDF for me.
Do a little checking and you will find out they are not good stewards of your money. Yes, they do some good projects. I would like to support those projects, and do through other means. But far too much of the money goes to administrative overhead, and even some very questionable activities. They have gotten in bed with SFW in Utah, and spend lots of funds on non-deer related activities. It is really sad, actually. I've spoken multiple times with the leadership, and they won't be changing anything soon. (Until the current leadership is gone.)
I encourage everyone to support wildlife, and many conservation organizations. Do your own research. I prefer to support RMEF and B+C to name a few. I avoid SFW, SCI and MDF, in that order. Not that long ago I was a big MDF fan, and would support them again if they took better care of the funds they raised.

Maybe MDF didnt like me, I never even got a renewal letter or notice when my membership expired. Its to bad they are not using the money for what it should be for. I dont like SFW either. SCI I think is a good organization and they do alot of good things but I couldnt handle all the high fence hunts so I decided not to be a member after 1 year. RMEF is the only one I belong to now.

SFW? Is that sportsman for wildlife? There is an RMEF dinner coming up next month, I may check it out
