I am shopping for new long range rifle to extend my range to 1000+ yards. Which company is reputable in building long range guns and what caliber I should buy? I am looking for some bigger calibers like 300 win and I am ok with paying around $5k.

Ryan pierce rifles or MOA rifles would be my choice. Caliber size depends on what you want. A lot of people are really liking the 28 Nosler right now. If you like big 30 caliber rifles look at the 30-378.

Shawn carlock of defensive edge, Dallas lane of lane precision, Brent Jacobs of western precision, Bob beck for MOA,RBros also. They all do nice work. I would talk to each of them to see which caliber they recommend for the rifle style you would be building. Myself I would be looking at 7mm rem mag, 7mm RUM, 28 Nosler, 300 win mag,300 RUM, if wanted to go bigger then 338 RUM,338 EDGE, 338 Lapua, 338 Lapua Improved,338 Terminater. Just my thoughts.

Thank you, DRUSS.
I have 7 rem mag with VX6, shooting very good, usually under MOA but I wouldn't be comfortable shooting animal over 500 yard, especially bigger animal. I don't think it would have enough killing power to kill animal like elk over 600-700 yard and just for fun shooting at longer range I would like to have some heavier than 7 rem mag. I had really nice elk last season about 800 yards, wasn't feeling comfortable shooing it and something spooked him while I was trying to close the distance.

I have a similar type setup to you possibly a 280AI with a 3-18 vx6. It shoots well but must admit my own elk guns are 30 cal and up. Usually for elk it's my bowtech though.

I like mine, but the op said he has a 7mm rem mag and wanted something more. But I don't consider my 280AI a all around long range gun either. I do hunt elk with it though

I'd be looking at Proof Reasearch in 300 win mag. IMG_2179.jpg my son has one with vx6hd scope. It weighs right at 7lbs. He added a muzzle brake and says it shoots like a 223. It'll be over 5k

Nice looking rifle. Is that 7# with scope? My wife and son would appreciate that left handed setup

I don't own or plan to own a custom rifle. But I shoot out there pretty far enough with my Winchester m70 in 300 win mag in my opinion. I would be plenty confident using my rifle to 800yrds on game and certainly beyond on targets. It shoots 1/2" at the hundred without trying. That is as good or better than anyone can expect from any rifle.
I highly recommend you decide what caliber you want to shoot and hunt with first and foremost. That may narrow the options of custom vs factory guns or makers.
I feel the 7mm mag is a very capable caliber for what you want if the rifle is accurate enough. But if you aren't confident in it's amount of power then that is surely your parogative.
Any caliber that pushes a 160+ weight bullet near or above 3,000fps will probably kill anything , definitely an elk out to 1,000yrds in my mind.

are you looking for a rifle and scope for 5K or just the rifle? If you find a good gunsmith you can definetly get a custom rifle built for 3500-$4200 depending on components. With the top end components below you are at about $3400 with out bedding, chambering and threading for brake. Hope this helps a little. All my custom rifle by the same gunsmith I use, they all shoot 1/2" moa at 600

proof barrel-$800
bench mark #4 with straight flutes $430
defiance actions $1380
lonepeak ti action $1600
manners or McMillian stocks around $600-700
Brake $150-200
trigger tech $140-180

bghunter, he shoots balckhills 190 grain. His p oblem is that he needs o find a longer range, at 300 yards he is very tight. Retterath is very close to costs. Proof told us at the Sheep Show that they should be announcing at the shot show that they will be selling stocks! By far they produce the best carbon built stock.
