A few of us are looking to go on a moose hunt. Probably close to 35-40 hours drive time plus staying overnight at least once. Looking to hear what you guys do to keep meat. We are thinking chest freezer.

Yep

Freeze it.

We used to freezer all our meat then wrap it in our sleeping bags then stuff it into a ice chest for days of driving.

We also would freeze and wrap up in clothes and pack it in our suite cases if we were flying.

Get a good cooler.

Keep adding ice.

Keep the drain plug pulled and keep the meat out of the slimy water in the bottom.

Meat can stay in a cooler for a long time.

An old broken chest freezer would work well to use as a "giant cooler". I dont think I would freeze the meat then thaw it to butcher it. But thats just me.

Keep in mind that a moose in 1/4's will not fit in most coolers easily. You will have to break it down some.

A lot of out of state hunters that hunt here in Colorado will use a chest freezer and a generator. While in camp they will process the meat and stick it in the cold freezer and once frozen they will only run the generator enough to keep it below freezing. Then on their way home they wont need to run the generator. If they stop overnight they will plug it into a power source where they stopped at

My Yeti 210 is a beast of a cooler, guessing if you break them down some as Mallards said all 4 quarters would fit with room for dry ice, unopened, it would be cold for 3 days or so.

I've done it twice from northern BC to central Ca, two plus days of driving. Both my moose meat was cut, wrapped and frozen for a day! Filled coolers and drove home! The only time a cooler was opened was at the US border. Frozen when I got home.
