Llamas vs goats. Which is better?

I've been doing a lot of research on pack llamas and goats and both seem to have many advantages and some disadvantages.
What does everyone prefer to use? Why are llamas better? Or why are goats better? I've gone down the horses road, and they're always a bigger pain in the butt than they are worth the trouble.

Any experienced people that can share their opinion would greatly help! I'm looking to get some in the next month, so this will help me make my final decision!

I currently have pack goats and they are great and quite easy to handle. That said I have not used llamas but am planning on getting a couple very soon to get them started. Be aware that all States with wild goat and sheep populations are banning goats from these areas. I hunt Hells Canyon in Oregon quite a bit and can't take them there. They would have been greatly appreciated for this years spring bear hunt! Goats are very easy to train and I have both dam and bottle raised and the bottle boys are much calmer and easier to train, although neither were very hard to train but the bottle boys also are not as alert on the trail as my damn raised boys. Sorry I can't help you on the llama side yet but let us know which way you go and if you go llamas shoot me a P.M. on how the training is with them!

Like Wild Country said Goats are very easy, and easy to care for. You can load 6 or seven in the back of your pickup and away you go, no trailer needed. But I recently sold mine, because of the limitations as to where you can go.

I have llamas. They are pretty low maintenance but they do require a trailer to haul. Two llamas can pack out a quartered elk. They can be pretty stubborn at times. This year one of mine just decided he was done in the middle of a pack out. All in all I really enjoy them. I don't have any experience with goats b

This is an awesome thread; what are some of the limitations to where a goat can go that a llama can't? Sorry if its a dumb question...this idea is new to me and it is very intriguing!

On the other side of town, there's always a few goats that go to the BBQ pit around the forth of July. Never heard of any llamas making to the BBQ pit though!

Sorry about that, this thread was just to good to pass up! Good luck with the pack string guys, and I don't blame you for staying away from the horses either. I've never heard of anyone getting trampled in a llama stampede.

I was refering to the legal limitations. they are outlawing them in so many places where Bighorn sheep live.
Physically they can go anywhere you can go, without any problems.
