I didn't want to steal Ikeepitcold's thread but just out of curiosity what is considered to be a light weight rifle setup? I see his came in at just under 8 pounds, what are some of your guns weighing in at in comparison? Luke

I think 8-10lbs is pretty light. I have up to 14lbs on a custom long range gun but I’m not packing that thing around.

I have a Remington 700 Ti that weighs 6 pounds 6 ounces scoped. Personally, I don?t think I will ever look for a rifle lighter than that. I have a Tikka T3x SL that weighs just under 7 pounds, scoped. I shoot it better than the Remington from field positions and it is still nice to carry all day long.

lightest rifle weighs in at 7lbs, and that's too light I think!

7.5-8lbs is probably a nice lightweight total weight I think.

View attachment 23117 slightly over 7 1/2 lbs rigged.
sneakypete, Nice rifle! I tried PMing you about the build but your inbox was full. What are the specs/components? I think that weight would be about perfect for carrying without sacrificing shootability but I am having a difficult time, on paper, figuring out how to hit it using the action from a left hand Remington 700 LSS I picked up. Thanks.

Cooper M92 in .300 Win Mag w/ Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44 -- 6.8 lbs.

It shoots 1/2 MOA with hand-loaded 180gr Accubond's. The muzzle brake is fantastic, my wife shoots it with ease.

I always wanted a lightweight hunting rifle in a true magnum caliber that shot super accurate with hunting bullets and had a full-size top-shelf scope on it. I think I finally found what I was looking for. I don't know why I'll ever need another rifle
