Leupold VX-6

I did not want to piggy back onto NABE07's thread, but I have a similar question. I am also considering a new set up and was wondering if anyone in the forum had any actual experience with a Leupold VX-6. I am considering a VX-6 2-12X42 mounted on a Browning X Bolt 300 WSM. Thanks in advance for any insight.

I personally don't think you can go wrong with any of their top end optics... I don't however have any experience with this one.

I presently have 6 of the VX6 scopes on my rifles. Some Illuminated and some not. Just the fact that I have 6 tells you that I think very highly of this model scope and I have a high regard for Leupold as a company. 3 of the scopes are the 2-12x42's. Excellent in every way. Comparable to some of my higher priced European scopes. I think that scope/rifle combo you have would go together like apple pie and ice cream.

If it says Leupold and has the Gold Ring, you can't go wrong. No one has a better warranty and customer service.

As a pleased user of their LR/T VX-3's and Mark 4's with reticles in the 1st and 2nd plane with good success, I am sure the VX-6 is a good choice.

I am a Leupold fan! I own several and they all do the job ! I do not have the VX-6, however my brother has this scope on his Browning A-Bolt 300 WSM. and he loves it. You will have a great set up with this scope.

I have the VX-6 3-18 Firedot on my 300 winmag and love it, the field of view at close range is fantastic and when you crank it up I am astounded at the clarity. I am also amazed at the light gathering for early and late when those few minutes count, I can still see. The 3-18 is bigger and heavier but you cant go wrong with the 2-12 either. God bless

Thanks to you all for your fast and positive responses. That pretty much settles it. I will probably go with the fire dot reticle as well, seems to makes sense as I am planning a black bear hunt as well.

I put the 3-18 CDS on my 30-06 this year and love it. Shot a mule deer and an antelope with it, hard to beat Leupold.

I am using a vx 7 and happy with it. Mine is 4x18x56 I believe and I really don't know the differences between it and a vx6. I think the 7 is discontinued. In early and late I can see well enough to be illegal. I think it would be a good choice
