Hey guys, I got a call from my taxidermist the other day wanting me to pick out a pose/form for my bull. I would love to see some pictures of bull elk shoulder mounts to help me decide. Thanks!

You have to remember that a mount is usually how the hunters interpreted his hunt before he shot the animal. On my bull we sat and listened to him bugle for over a hour so for me it was a no brainier to have him in the mouth open as if he was bugling. When we took a bull in for my brother in law the taxidermist told us that he didn't like the open mouth because people would start to play around with it sticking different objects into it such as a cigar or a pipe, so take this into consideration.

Here is my bull.

Here is another one of my Colorado bulls and the first elkl I ever had mounted. This one is a semi sneak (not altered).

Nice Bull........for sure! I know what you mean about the bugling. On one trip we couldn't even sleep at night because the bulls were going crazy all around us all night long. That was an unforgettable trip etched in the memory vault for good.

The man cave is still a work in progress. I'll post pictures when it's finished.

Hilltop, your mounts are awesome! Thanks for sharing. Are you heading out to your old elk hunting stomping grounds this fall?

Yes- I am headed back this fall with a General tag and a cow tag in hand. I'm hoping to fill both with my bow so won't be super picky. Not sure my wife wants me to pay for another mount right now lol. I really want a nice European elk mount so that may the compromise if I'm successful.

I don't get much shoulder mounted anymore because of the expense and amount of space they take up. My favorite skull mount is my daughter's 7x8 elk that we had "copperized" (if there is such a word).

Alaska2go, that's not a trophy room, but a trophy house!
My wife is very tolerable, so she tells me, but I'd never get aware with that.

That is sweet Wy Me, who did it for you?
Thanks WY-Tex
Jason House (Creations In Antlers) in Greybull, WY did 2 elk and one bear skull for me. He's good. The antler has a copper coating that is then acid washed in the crevices for greenish highlights.
