Lead sled question

I know this is an old thread but I'm having some issues with sighting in for my trip to Montana in a few weeks. I'm shooting 180gr. Hornady SST's in a 30-06 caliber. I'm about 3" at 100yds but when I stretch the target out to 200yds I'm even higher. I'm thinking that it may have something to do with shooting slightly down hill but I'm not sure. Anybody have any insight on this? I'm starting to panic a little. Thanks in advance!

How much higher and what's the scope height?

I was about 12" high and the scope height is 1-1/2".

Sounds like you have something wrong there? Try to find flat ground and zero at 250 and then check back to see where you are at 100, 150, and 200. You should be roughly 2.5" high at 100. If shooter error wasn't involved you definitely have some kind of equipment issue. Even a 45 degree angle won't cause what you described according to ballistics charts anyways.

I did come across another thread that mentioned that if your shooting downhill, you will hit a little high. My buddy was having the same issues with his gun but he was so frustrated he just bought a new gun. I'm pretty sure my wife won't let me buy a third gun for this trip. I don't have anywhere that I can shoot a flat 200-250yds. I'm thinking that I should just get zeroed in at 150yds and compensate for anything farther out?
