Late season elk hunt

I have canvas mountain spike tent from Reliable Tent. For 1-2 guys for a couple days it's great. Set up time under an hour with a stove (I picked up a small sheet metal stove somewhere along the line-it won't heat for hours but definitely takes the chill off). Plus it's WAY lighter than a wall tent, I still wouldn't want to pack it though. Just stake out the corners, put in the center pole (I use a piece of 4" schedule 40 PVC), adjust the lines, and camp is set. Not nearly as roomy as a wall tent, but faster, lighter, and just as comfortable if sleeping on a cot. If the weather was really crummy and/or you're camping for an extended time it's not as comfortable as a wall tent though.

looks very similar to my above mentioned mountain spike tent. Mine is 10' x 10' but if I had it to do over again I would get 12' x 12'.

The best 2-3 man tent i have used in -20 is the 6 man artic with the liner. We use a old korean war stove called the yukon made in 1953. Too heavy to haul on your back but small enough not to take up too much room in your truck. It only needs 1 center pole and the stove is big enough when fully stokes it will last about 5 hours.

We have the 14'X17' Montana canvas wall tent with the pole kit and rain fly. We used colored electrical tape to color code what poles are for what areas. 4 guys can have it up in under an hour but we usually set it up 3 times a year so we are always some what fresh. The pole kit is worth the money in my opinion. Not sure what model stove we have but some dry juniper really heats up the tent nicely.

You might also look at the walltent company out of Idaho, they have a spike tent called the Selkirk that looks pretty cool.
